This course introduces students to the visual arts produced during the medieval period in Europe. In addition to providing a broad overview of major artists, artworks, and artistic trends of the era, it also enables students to develop skills in art-historical methodologies, critical analysis of visual and textual material, and contextualization of creative works within their historical time period. Note: Writing Intensive (W) and Civilizations and Cultures (X) course. Prerequisite(s): ERH-102 with a minimum grade of C.
